UY Scuti

UY Scuti is a red supergiant star in the Scutum constellation. It is currently the largest known star with a diameter of 2,375,828,000 kilometres. That means it would take 2.2 hours to cross it’s diameter at the speed of light.

It has a volume approximately 5 billion times that of the Sun, and if placed in the middle of the solar system UY Scuti would engulf all the planets all the way to Jupiter, filling more than halfway through Saturn’s orbit.

Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

Halong translates as ‘where the dragon descends into the sea’, and legend claims the islands of Halong Bay were created by a great dragon from the mountains. As it charged towards the coast, its flailing tail gouged out valleys and crevasses. When it finally plunged into the sea, the area filled with water, leaving only the pinnacles visible.

This is obviously dross, but I visited in August and it was amazing!

The hatred that exists between Celtic and Rangers will never die. Fans here have spent so long trying to get under each others skin, that the rivalry is now embedded deep beneath the skin of the city. And as everyone knows, Glasgow is a city with a very thick skin.

Hooliganism in football will always exist, especially in Glasgow.

The hatred that…

Action Bronson & Riff Raff – BiRD ON A WiRE

Action Bronson is an American rapper of Albanian descent from Flushing, Queens, New York. He has been active in the rap scene since 2008, but prior to this he was a respected fire-flame gourmet chef in New York City. Basically he’s a pretty cool guy.

This song featuring Riff Raff has one of the most chilled out beats I’ve come across.

The Vertical City

The Vertical City

The Dubai City Tower is a proposed skyscraper design announced on 25 August 2008. When built (estimated completion is 2025) the building will be 2,400 metres tall… that’s more than 3 times taller than the world’s current largest building (The Burj Khalifa) and almost 7 times taller than The Empire State Building!

The 1.55 mile high design nicknamed ‘the vertical city’ has 400 floors and is so tall that it contains a 200 km/h (125 mph) vertical bullet train acting as the main elevator.

With a building this high, wind is obviously a danger. It’s structure therefore comprises of a central core with 6 outer buildings that are connected to the central core every 100 floors in a design that both stabilizes the structure and spreads out its mass.
